Pathology & Oral Medicine

Pathology of the headand neck area can be complex. The Maxillofacial Surgeon is uniquely placed with extensive specialist training to diagnose and manage benign and malignant disease of the maxillofacial region. Frequently general dentists are the first to notice something abnormal and request specialist opinion. While many disease processes are able to be diagnosed clinically, sometimes a biopsy is required to be 100% certain. These services are available under local anaesthetic, IV sedation and general anaesthetic should the need arise.

Depending on the nature of the pathology, occasionally removal of a lesion is all that is necessary. Further management may also be required.

Liam works closely with Dr. Anita Nolan, Oral Medicine Specialist, for ongoing management or monitoring of some conditions. Depending on the nature of the pathology, Liam will discuss all treatment and management options with you and refer you as necessary.
